We’re so excited to be hosting our 9th annual Vancouver Celebrates Diwali at the beautiful Yaletown Roundhouse! We will be featuring so many new artists, delicious food vendors, and fun activities for the whole family! Where else can you get traditional mehndi done for only $3, and paint your very own diya for $2?! VCD 2012 has something for everyone….. which also includes prizes!
This year’s celebration will feature LIVE-TWEETING throughout the day at Diwali Downtown. Follow us on Twitter @VandDiwali and use our tag #VCD2012 to Tweet us throughout the day! There will be special event stickers available by donation; show us how you flaunt your sticker by Tweeting us your photo, and you may win a prize! We have CDs, DVDs, Gift Cards, Cell Phones, T-shirts, backstage VIP tickets, and much much more to give away!
Also remember to come with an appetite! Not only do we have our fantastic food vendors, but also a samosa eating contest. Better get practicing your samosa eating technique, only a few days before you can be wolfing down a plate (or two).
We’d also like to shed some light on today’s featured performance group Sangeeta Maruti Arts. They are a vocal and percussion ensemble that features a fusion between African and Carnatic rhythms. This group is led by Vidyasagar Vankayala and Curtis Andrews.
